Donor Wiring Harness Issues

Question: [TB] "I've got the dash out and the harness dismounted inside the car (except EEC). Couple of questions for you seasoned donor ripper-aparters...

Next step is to disconnect in the engine compartment. Do I feed the engine harness from the outside-in through the firewall hole or does this magically disconnect somewhere between the two?

Do I need to remove the heater box stuff to remove the EEC module?

Should I have labeled the wires before I disconnected everything? (just kidding)

Helms schematics on order."

Answers:

[FK] "The engine harness disconnects from the rest of the harness at the back of the intake. Two large plugs, one black and one white. The EEC harness is disconnected from the computer and pulled out from the engine compartment. Check out the large oval plug that goes in thru the firewall, it is pushed in from the outside. I didn't have to remove the heater box, but it was real tight getting the computer out.
If I could do it again, I would use the Painless harness and splice the EFI harness into it. I sent my harness to Roger Stine for the wire diet, so I spent the extra money anyway. I was very happy with Roger's work, but it still had extra wire in some places and not enough in others."

[WC] "The EEC connection must be pulled through the hole, into the engine compartment. It's a little tricky getting the big ol' connection and the EEC relay through. Most of the rest of the underhood stuff disconnects on the driver side of the engine compartment. The remaining connections get pulled through the firewall into the inside of the car. Yep, the heater box has to be removed to get the EEC out. After several frustrating attempts to find all the $&#(@# screws, I just grabbed hold of the box and ripped it out!  Easy! "
