Drive Shaft

Pinion Info

[1352] "After installing the Autoweld adjustable uppers to replace the FFR uppers(this solved the wheel-hop problem) and setting the pinion angle @ 2.5 degrees under the drive shaft, the distance from the upper frame mount hole centerline to the 8.8 inch mount hole centerline measured 9.75 " while the FFR upper arms were 9.25 " bolt hole spacing...I guess my original FFR setup was also Approx. -17 degrees pinion angle.
Currently the transmission is about 5 degrees above the drive shaft and I do get some "whine" from the drive shaft area but it has been reduced as the pinion angle was changed incrementally from -17 to -2.5 degrees. The noise is loudest under WOT and the driveshaft will be removed and inspected soon (Have 10,000 miles on 315 RWHP car). I remember some "whine" from the driveshaft when the car and u-joints were new. Also, now the wire rope straps are slack!"

[SF] "There is a pretty good article at http://www.drivetrain.com/driveline_angle_problem.html that explains the procedure for checking driveline angles. Although the article is about trucks, I would think the checking procedure would be the same and may be especially relevant since it deals with short driveshaft lengths."
