How to attach AC Pedals:
[TN] "The pedals need to be slotted to
run a bolt through, and there is enough material around them to do
so. On my clutch I have the pedal offset to the left to provide more
spacing between pedals."
[Cemi] "I slotted mine with a hacksaw
then cleaned up the waste with a drill bit. They are attched to the
pedal box arms with #10 stainless steel nuts and bolts and shimmed
with stainless steel washers (I bought a box of the bolts for the
hood hinge). After I attached them, I got to thinking that you may
be able to just drill a hole though the AC pedal bosses and attach
them to the pedal box arms at an offset, without trying to notch
them.
"

[RT] "I did mine with the pedals in the
car, you will need a 90 degree drill adapter to drill the pedal
cross holes in the arms, Harbor Freight has a nice one that goes on
sale for $16, sometimes less. A cut off disc or sawsall will work to
cut the old pedals off.
I milled 1/4" slots in the pedals,
however you'll find that one arm is 5/16 thick, I ground down the
arm end a bit with a grinder.
Takes a bit of time but the look is worth it.
I do think there is enough thickness to do the
drilling and tapping thing if you wanted to leave the old pedals and
mount the AC's to them, of coarse you'd have to grind off the lump
in the back."
[RT] "I had a 1/4" slot needs to get
milled in them and then a cross hole drilled."
[bo] "I used a cutting wheel and put a
slice right down the center of the tab. Then slowly remove equal
amounts of material from each side. Keep checking the fit with the
shaft. You can always take more off, but, putting it back on is much
more difficult. Keep the fit tight and you will be pleased. Drill a
hole right through the center of the tab and bolt her down. I used
1/4 inch hardware. If your fit is too loose, the pedal will never
tighten and you will crack your tab. Be patient, take your time and
It will pay off. Also, on the brake pedal arm itself there is a
notch. I ground the notch higher so the AC pedal would fit flush."
[1775] "I drilled my hole thru the solid
block first. I was concerned about snapping the aluminum pieces once
the center was cut out. Then I used a cutting wheel to cut out the
center of the block. I ensured a tight fit by finishing touches with
a hand metal file or a Wizard hand tool. BTW, I think I cut the
brake pedal differently to move it slightly toward the clutch. I
cut/ground one side of the block and put the bolt through. If you
make it too loose a fit, use small washers or you could snap the
pedal mount."
[hk] "One thing to remember..... If you
plan on doing this after the car is complete, you will need a right
angle electric drill or a very short (distance from the chuck to
handle) drill. It is relatively easy to drill the hole needed for
the clutch pedal, but the brake pedal is a bugger."
Question: [SC] "I just modified my
clutch pedal to meet up with the brake pedal. My question is, will I
have a problem with not having enough clutch movement. Now it seems
like there will not be enough movement to disengage the clutch. you
guys let me know if there has been any problems like the one I think
I'm going to have."
Comments:
[RT] "I moved mine 1" further back,
that was the max with the old shorter footbox's , and it works
perfect. It's also in line with the brake."
[PM] "I cut my clutch pedal off near
about 4 inches from the top....then had a brake pedal from another
mustang welded onto the clutch stub (thanks wade c)....I inverted
the foot pads inward to give me a little more room ....the clutch is
now about 1/2 inch higher than the brake and the travel is good and
it seems easier to control.....i removed the door, seat, steering
wheel and disconnected the clutch cable....take note of the quadrants
travel with stock pedal before you cut it ....then drill a hole in
the new pedal and stub tighten a bolt through it and with the cable
unhooked triple check to be sure the travel is the same...then weld
it...I like the look of the twin heavy pedals"
[SB] "I cut a small wedge out of the back
of the clutch pedal arm to align it with the brake pedal. Don
DuPontee was nice enough to "undo" this mistake for me. I
can now disengage my clutch again."
Here's my pedals. I used AC pedals from
Finishline and Russ' Gas Pedal Assembly. (see FFR
