Miata Seats?

Pro's- Speakers in the head rests...

Cons...Speakers in the head rest, about the size of a 50cent piece...

[2fast]

I have a set of Miata seats. I got them pretty cheap, $100 with tracks. They are a little faded, but I plan on having them recovered anyhow. There is a wide selection of leather seat covers available in the $400 to $600 range, including custom color combinations.

Having previously owned a horribly underpowered Miata, the seats were one of the things I liked about the car. They are comfortable, fit me well, and have good side support.

The speakers in the headrest worked well for me, but they are pretty small, about 2" x 3". This is adequate for me, since I usually only listen to talk radio anyway, but YMMV. Having them close to your ears seems to help keep the sound from getting lost in the wind and exhaust noise.

I have the seats setting in the car, but not yet bolted down. The size looks good and the tracks look like the should be easy to attach. The footprint is about the same as the FFR seats. I also tried some 1982 Corvette seats, but their footprint was too large and interfered with the parking brake handle and the tracks were hard to position."

[Barry] "I put a Miata seat ff1755.Feels great, I autocross with it ,good support. Seatbelts another thing, belts not quite long enough to go around seat and fit good. If you go through seat it might be ok but 1st attempt jammed me in the neck, will try again. The seat sticks above the body 8 inches, and from an appearance standpoint I'm not sure I like that look. I'm 5 ft 10 and its snug but if your taller you might have to modify the panel just past the door in front of the wheel to get the seat a little further back."

Seat Tracks:

[MC] "Check Wade's site for some pictures. http://www.tmctechnologies.com/cobra/May.htm
I got a set from Jegs for $25.00 and I think Summit has the same ones too. (Don't buy the adjustable brackets they note are needed.) I think there less than an inch. I knocked out the bolts from the bottom mount and used drill screws to nail mine down and used the mounting bolts to mount the seat to. Wade noted he got his from FFR. The ones from Jegs and Summit have double locks (one on each rail)."

[BP] FFR's tracks work great!

[WP] "The new clubman does have more padding than the Monaco, that's why I chose it for my car. I think they are $210 each."
