"THE YELLOW SUBMARINE"
For August, we choose this wonderful example of a custom FFR Roadster. FFCobra forum member, CobraEarl, built this car to his specifications. This car is a driver, not a trailer queen. It's a daily driver that Earl can be proud of.
Here's what CobraEarl has to say about his car. "This is FFR2362, a replica of the 1965 Ford Shelby Cobra 427S/C. She was custom manufactured for me by Factory Five Racing of Wareham MA. The main photo was taken at Pudding Ridge Golf Club, Mocksville, NC.
She's not a Waxer. . . .She's not a Trailer Queen. . . . She's THE YELLOW SUBMARINE!!!
She was ordered 7-11- 2000 and delivered 11-03-2000. I had her registered, insured and on the road 5-25-2001. I did all the bodywork and I painted her 1998 Viper Yellow April 2002 in the garage where I built her.
To date she has been driven over 13,000 trouble free miles. I drove her from our home near Winston/Salem, NC to Wareham Massachusetts for the 2002 Factory Five Racing Open House. I also drove her to Spring Fling II in Columbus Ohio. She is a joy and a thrill to drive. My wife, Juanita, and I have both driven her in two Second Strike Open Track events at Virginia International Raceway, at speeds up to 120 MPH.
Personalized Features: Powered Footbox Vents. AC dead pedal. Largest trunk on a Factory Five Racing Roadster.
She has a 1990 5.0 HO engine with: 600 Holley carb, Edelbrock Performer 289 Intake, Ford Motor Sports "B" cam, Duraspark Distributor and Mac unequal length 1 5/8" headers,
The twin roll bars, quick jacks and hinges were powder coated in 60% Black.
Other features include: 3.55 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe rear end, 4 wheel discs, 1990 T-5 Transmission, 1993 Cobra Master Cylinder, Porterfield R4s brake pads, turbine wheels, black sidepipes. Center Force Clutch, Breeze automotive aluminum rack bushings, wind wings, sun visors and Classic gauges,
Farmington Drag Strip 1/8 mile, June 15, 2001: ET 8.85, 82.711 MPH on street tires."
