Many of the regular FFCobra.com members will
know this car. The car was delivered to Arnold in California
in February 2003. He has since taken it to Reno. We've been
waiting for Arnold to take some pictures so we could honor my long
time friend with the very first FFR Coupe to be a Picture of the
Month. Congratulations Arnold for having the first FFR Coupe as POM!
It was tough choice this month because we had so many great pictures
submitted.
This Factory Five Coupe was
built for Arnold to his specs by Carl McClellan of Rosenberg,
TX. Arnold did a lot of research before commissioning this
car. He wanted the car to look like an original Daytona, but modernized
and functional for every day use. The color was the key from
the beginning. He has always wanted a Candy Apple Red car and
now he has it!
Carl finished the Coupe in just under a year
with the help of Daniel of Tejas Paint and Body, and Galt and I did
some of the finishing work. The paint is House of Colors Candy Apple
Red over silver. The stripes are Dodge Ultra White.
Carl did the job using all new parts, except
the spindles and the T-Bird IRS. The engine is an Engine
Factory's 351W with a few mods to produce over 430 HP. Arnold
choose to have full carpet installed, high-back Factory Five
Performer seats, and a custom A/C was designed by Hot Rod Air in San
Antonio, TX. The A/C was installed by Ed at Christen Bros in
Sugar Land, TX.
Why the name Scarlet? Well, I'll leave that up
to Arnold to explain at the next Bay Area or Reno event.
