WARNING: There's foul language in this video clip.
Here we have a 99 Cobra (Aluminum Block)... add a Supercharger and you are going to crack the block ! - The internals are not up to par
03/04 Cobras have IRON blocks with Manley Rods, Forged Pistons and Forged Crank - Problem solved.
" Terminator" was the nickname SVT gave the 03Cobra

(What do you get when you add a supercharger to a 99 Cobra to make 600hp?)

600HP with the stock (junk) rods and you're going to throw a rod. Or maybe burn a piston cause they're not too great either.
Block itself is good to over 600HP though. And all 4.6 Cobras have a forged crank...

Supercharger on that motor should have been fine -- just not at that horsepower level without some internal modifications. (Duh.)
WARNING: There is some exceptionally foul language in that video clip, for those of you that have kids are that are easily offended.
Cheers, John

No, that's what happens when you add a supercharger to a high compression motor without spending any money on upgrading the internals. Course I don't have much sympathy for that guy since he was street racing.

Keep in mind, if he was making 600hp he was running over 500rwhp. Also keep in mind that he was running a non-intercooled supercharger. Highway race, high compression, high boost, no intercooler, BOOOOOOOOOOOM.
Later, Steve

Just last week a buddy of mine here in Houston was driving a Ford E350 cargo van, and while cruising at freeway speeds it threw a rod all the way out through the bottom of the oil pan. By the time he figured out what had happened, the oil was gone and the engine was seized. Will have to do a total replacement.
Just random vaguely-related note.
Cheers, John
