Congrats, David! I love the color. I just looked through all the photos and descriptions in your build site as I traced your journey from Stewart to graduation. Good work. You have my admiration for doing your own wire diet. It was fun to remember the steps of my build (Mk 3, 4.6) but makes me want to start the fun all over again. With some miles you'll get to love the 4.6!

Congratulations! I figured by the colors that you've spent some time in College Station and the plate-- how did you get that plate? That one must have been one of the first to go!
Anyway, go fast, waste gas and brake for everyone except longhorns

Thanks for all the great comments. I know some folks may think it's heresy to put a fuel injected, computer-controlled modular engine in a Cobra. I do love the sound of a big block with a huge cam, loping along at idle and making big sucking sounds through a carb. With all the hoses and wires, the the almost-stock Mustang modular engine I used is not as pretty to look at as a "clean" carborated engine, but it fits my needs very well for this build. It does move the car very fast, and it sounds very nice through those side pipes! Now, the engine for my next build........
My son and I built this car with the end-game in mind: a drivable piece of art. I didn't realize how enjoyable the building process would be, as all you builders can testify. Building the car really was easier than I thought would be. The only headaches I had were with the wire diet (mostly with disabling the PATS system) and getting the stinking windshield wiper gearboxes to work right. I got great advice from this forum on both of those issues, so I thank all the folks for their help.
Regarding the Maroon and White color scheme, yes, my wife and I are both graduates of Texas A&M University. My previous "toy" car was a Viper Blue Opel GT, and my current everyday car is a Stratos Blue Mazda, so a blue FFR was not an option. I've seen many nice color combinations, but one "trend" that seemed to be happening was the increase in orange cars. My wife and I decided that a Maroon and White FFR would help bring ballance in the automotive world. John, I wish the "GIG EM" plate was real. It's a fake plate I stuck on the car for some photos.

Guess I'm partial to the color - I've been trying to find out the color, didn't build mine. Does your's take on a brown/chocolate hue in the sun? Been looking at different wheels, so this give's me an idea....

Purple Venom,
Thanks for the comments. My maroon paint isn't like those cool chamelion colors that change hue in the sun. It's pretty much maroon regardless of the lighting.
